The River Inn, Derry’s oldest bar, was established in 1684, with a history dating back to before the siege. At that time, it met the three criteria required for an Inn’s license: permission to sell punch, provide accommodation, and stable horses. Steeped in history, its cellars were used in 1798 to hold Wolfe Tone on his way to execution in Dublin after his capture in Donegal. These original cellars have since been converted into the Cellar Bar.
A recent addition is the bar 'Silver Street,' named after the original name for Shipquay Street, where it is located. This new bar features various food menus, a diverse range of drinks, live entertainment on selected evenings, and sports shown on big screens.
